Maine Climate Action Now catalyzes transformative education and action in response to the climate and ecological crisis. We seek to honor, unite and amplify the voices of youth, frontline communities, and others historically excluded from the climate conversation and positions of power. We hold social, racial, and economic justice as critical to the transition to zero carbon emissions by 2030, and demand the equitable implementation of clean renewable energy, ecological land-use practices, and bold community-led action for a more resilient Maine. MCAN advances education, advocacy and community engagement in response to the climate crisis using the lens of equity.

MCAN staff “build bridges” across the state’s climate justice ecosystem, translating complex energy policy, supporting community-led advocacy, and empowering marginalized voices to shape solutions to navigate a just transition. We will partner with tribal and immigrant communities to increase access to climate justice education, renewable energy workshops, and Offshore Wind 101 events co-led with labor allies. We will explore community ownership models for clean energy generation and infrastructure; support the Divest Maine campaign. We will strengthen our outreach through in-person visits, coalition gatherings, youth-led advocacy campaigns. And through creative formats – like climate fiction workshops, art, peer education, online resources.
