AHEAD start on a bus on the way home from the Women's March in Washington after the Trump election, previously women unknown to each other from two rural Ohio counties became activated. Unicorns started on a playground with moms discussing issues, recognizing other progressives and whispering "are you a Democrat?", we are the land of Jim Jordan, Trump and State Senator Matt Huffman.

Over four million people don't vote where they live. An enlistee in the Navy from North Carolina can vote--from San Diego. An NC A&T student in Brazil this semester can vote too. But they probably won't--unless someone asks them. Building Bridges for America is going to ask.

We are volunteers dedicated to democracy in a deeply red, rural county. Goals: Contact like-minded and persuadable voters–empower them to vote. Reach voters via conversations at events and in public venues, canvass (“standard” and “deep”), promote our Talk Teams, distribute cards/pamphlets, text, engage through social media and billboards.

Our GOTV efforts reach Dem/left leaning, Independent, and underserved communities, with voter registration & engagement; postcard events; co-hosting public candidate forums and fundraisers; phone/text banks; canvassing. This election cycle, I want to target residents in two low turnout Canton (OH-13) precincts by registering voters, hopefully knocking on doors during GOTV and mailing letters similar to Vote Forward's encouraging infrequent voters to vote. We'll try to get voters to commit to a voting day and send reminders to them as their voting day approaches.
