Washington 47th LD 2022 Voter Turnout Analysis
To validate (or challenge) our observation that grassroots groups can effectively mobilize young voters of color in non-urban areas, we conducted a research project in Washington state’s 47th Legislative District, an area of small towns and sparse suburbs nested within Washington’s competitive 8th Congressional District. We were able to compare voting data from prior midterms and neighboring counties, to validate that indeed, the district showed a positive turnout shift relative to neighboring, equivalent (control) districts.
