BMVH has partnered with Bethlehem NY Indivisible to form WeGOTV.NY. Since 2020 we have written 70,000 letters to swing states and thousands of postcards to voters to get out the vote. The Dermatology Interest Group Association (DIGA) is a national student-run organization committed to providing volunteering, networking, and research opportunities to medical students interested in a career in dermatology. Our initiatives fall under three spheres: Application: Partnerships, events, & workshops built around supporting students in the residency application process, increasing transparency of the process, and centralizing information flow. Empowerment: Identifying disparities and inefficacies in the current landscape of dermatology applicants, and working with professionals and our peers to develop tools to address them. We engage and train youth from frontline communities to participate in broad and diverse advocacy coalitions. Through our youth leadership development programs, we will support youth to plan and execute a ballot campaign that advocates for granting the state Auditor the ability to audit the legislature, increasing transparency and accountability ahead of Election Day 2024. Simultaneously, we will train Youth Leaders on their local representatives, preparing them to engage and educate local residents about down-ballot candidates. SWEEP will work to advance a clean and equitable energy future in 2025 through three programs: 1) Utilities: Working to get utilities to invest in renewable energy resources, energy efficiency programs, and demand response efforts to reduce energy waste, utility bills, and emissions; 2) Buildings: Ensuring that homes and commercial buildings are constructed or retrofitted to be energy efficient and heated and cooled with clean electricity; and 3) Transportation: electrifying the transportation sector; promoting multimodal alternatives like transit, biking, and walking; and advocating for smart land use and affordable infill housing to reduce travel costs, demand, and emissions.
