Advocacy Institute Inc (c3)

Organization Description
At the Advocacy Institute, our mission is to support social justice organizations to build the advocacy skills, knowledge, and power they need to shape government policy for a more just and equitable New York. Currently, the New Yorkers who are most affected by injustice have little say in our state and local policies. We provide trainings, tools, and consulting to a myriad of organizations so that more New Yorkers can organize effectively to change the policies that affect them.
2025 Programs
We will continue to train individuals at social justice organizations throughout New York State on the nuts and bolts of state- and local-level legislative advocacy. We will also serve nearly 60-70 social justice organizations through our membership model, providing 1-on-1 legislative consulting to help our member organizations refine and reach their campaign goals and build on what they learn in our trainings in a longer-term way. Finally, we will offer an intensive leadership development program that aims to build the leadership of women of color in legislative advocacy in New York.

Swing Blue Alliance (Group)

Organization Description
Swing Blue Alliance is the largest all-volunteer, Democratic grassroots organization headquartered in Massachusetts. In partnership with organizations in swing states, we develop evidence-based programs to protect our democracy, work on competitive local and national elections, and strengthen the Democratic Party at the grassroots level.
2026 Programs
Swing Blue Alliance focuses on excellence of tactics. Swing Blue's research department will continue to run randomized control trials to test the effectiveness of our mailing campaigns. The grassroots message testing group works hand-in-hand with our phone banking team. Scambusters investigates the effectiveness of political donations to PACs, while Swing Blue's fundraising group raises money for partners and projects in key states, including PA, ME, NC and VA.
2025 Programs
Swing Blue supported the Wisconsin Supreme Court judicial race with phone banks and postcards. The postcard campaign showed a statistically significant negative effect on turnout. The Pennsylviania team built a strong partnership with a Democratic committee in a swing district, raising money for Spanish radio ads, mailings and phone banks for the Supreme Court retention elections. The Virginia team provided wraparound support to two state legislative candidates in a key congressional district.
2024 Programs
In addition to running our own voter registration trips, we help Democratic committees and other grassroots group identify the most promising precincts for hotspot and door-to-door voter registration. We acquire lists of unregistered people and check them against other databases, including the registered voter file. We use this information to create walk lists.

Swing Blue Alliance is the largest organization of its kind headquartered in Massachusetts. We are the only organization that has a research department that runs randomized control trials.
