The Carbon Cycle Institute (CCI) is focused on building the local and regional capacity across California and other target states to plan, implement and scale agricultural and nature-based climate solutions. CCI’s mission is to stop and reverse global climate change by advancing natural, science-verified, agricultural solutions that reduce atmospheric carbon and sequester carbon in working soils and landscapes, while promoting environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic sustainability.
CCI’s goals: 1) continue advancing ambitious public policies, building coalitions, and advocating for climate goals and the supportive policies, infrastructure, and finance necessary to scale climate-beneficial agriculture; 2) expand farmers’ and ranchers’ access to technical assistance and carbon farming/regenerative agriculture expertise by building networks of agricultural support agencies to facilitate on-the-ground resource sharing and increase technical capacity; 3) support local and regional climate action and resilience planning focused on the integration and scaling of agricultural climate solutions, and 4) help to build a just and equitable food and farming system, working in deep partnership with climate and social justice organizations
