Young Voters Turned Out in Historic Numbers
2020 compared with 2016 shows young voters turning out in greater numbers, and as a greater share of the total early-voting electorate.
We are continuing to update this data from TargetEarly but we are unclear to what degree, and when it will include election results. Total votes appear to be around 160 Million voters nation-wide which is historic high turnout. These votes are not yet reported by TargetEarly
For more detailed reporting on the youth vote based on multiple data sources review this great page by CIRCLE
Early voting data from TargetEarly site is finding higher shares of early voting for young voters than in 2016:
*MI & PA – Low early voting in 2016 make change to 2020 not necessarily representative
**WI – Data here is challenged due to no state reported age-breakdowns
